Music

Musician

Eric’s musical journey began with playing viola in The Edinburgh Schools Orchestra, then on to his own High School Bands before joining The Bay City Rollers. That move terminated in a 10 year litigation against the Sony Corp… as Eric says, “It was almost worth it just to view first-hand the machinations of corporate America.”

Various guest stints on guitar for artists such as Arthur Brown, and 3 Men & Black (with Pauline Black) led Eric into his solo acoustic show, playing festivals far and wide.

Festivals

Festival appearances have included: Guilfest, Glastonbury (Left Field), Women Chainmakers Festival, The Acoustic Festival of Britain, The Scottish Guitar and Music Festival, Unison S.E., Islay Festival of Malt & Music, The Famous Grouse Festival and Stranraer Parkfest.

Shaped by his father’s left of Left politics, Eric’s social conscience shines through his self-penned songs, with the Scottish humour never far from the surface.

After successfully battling serious illness, Eric is back on the road, picking up from where he left off.

Sharing the Music

In recent years Eric has been much in demand to lead Songwriting Circles and Guitar Workshops. A natural teacher and raconteur, he ensures that these are both fun and educational.

With the publication of the first part of his autobiography – An Edinburgh Lad (A Collection of Poetry and Prose) – he is an excellent choice as guest speaker and performer at book festivals.

Eric is also available for charity, benefit and awareness gigs.
